Dock pudding is the ‘caviar of the Calder Valley’, as proudly Yorkshire as brass bands. Made with dock leaves, the recipe is handed down from generation to generation, secret picking spots sacred. In Mytholmroyd — a West Yorkshire town scarred by floods — the annual World Dock Pudding Championships judge with fierce pride the year’s best, frivolity frowned upon, tradition defended to the last. As flooding reshapes the landscape and younger generations drift away, devotees fear this humble dish may soon disappear. Through ritual, rivalry and humour, the film explores how food binds community, memory and place in our fast-changing world.

At his grandfather's funeral, 19-year-old Mat descends into panic when he discovers a lump on his neck. Convinced he has lymphoma, he tries to leave the family gathering to seek immediate hospital attention, causing great upset among his family, who are accustomed to Mat's frequent moments of anxiety. Seeing Mat withdraw, his father attempts to reach out and offer him an alternative. Mat struggles internally, torn between supporting his family during the intimate ceremony or following his urge to leave for the hospital.
